GPL lockups

If you are having trouble with GPL lockups or blinking blocks in menus
Make sure you have Glide 2.53 and not Glide 2.54 .The 3 files are
Glide2x.dll , Glide3x.dll , and Glide2x.ovl . The first two files are in
your window\system folder and the Glide2x.ovl file is in your window folder
.
Hope this helps you took me a long time to figure this one out

Opps, I forgot to tell you that HalfLife and maybe other games need Glide
2.54 , so before you replace the Glide 2.54 drivers please be sure to back
them up ex: C:\windows\system\Glide254back\ .
WARNING If your note sure what your doing then don't do it .
I do not want you to crash your system, I will send a message to Sierra
telling them of this problem , maybe we can get a patch so that new drivers
that have Glide 2.54 in them will work with GPL
Also I am using two Diamond V2's 8 meg . I'm not sure if this is a problem
with other v2's or not .

thanks for the info,   been wondering how to fix this problem....are your
lock ups occuring in the menu screens,  and does it happen while moving the
mouse or clicking on a button?

also, where might I find  a copy of glide 2.53,   every thing is 2.54
now...

thanks

Go to the 3dfx web site and download the Voodoo2 reference drivers from July
98. They work fine. The DirectX6 drivers don't.

Yes lockups occuring in the menu screen and happens while moving mouse
around . Get Glide 2.53 from 3dfx.com the name of the file is rkv2.exe . Un
zip to a temp folder all files the three files that you want are Glide2x.dll
Glide2x.ovl and Glide3x.dll . First be sure to back up the existing files
that you have installed into a safe place ex:
C:\Windows\system\Glideback254 and I would also suggest making a folder call
C:\Windows\system\Glideback253 . Most games now use Glide 2.54 so you still
need these files . When you want to play GPL copy from the Glideback253
folder the two dll files into the Windows\system folder and the single ovl
file into the windows folder and then when playing games that need the Glide
2.54 drivers copy from the C:\Winddows\system\Glideback254 . I have sent a
message to Sierra's tch support telling them of this problem since I have
HalfLife and it needs the 2.54 drivers so I hope they will be coming out
with a patch soon . Hope this help :) Ken Brown aka OldManWar or VG_RoadKill
in Q2 Sin HalfLife etc etc

Actually you should be able to get by with just copying the olde Glide
drivers to the the main directory of the program you wish to run.  If
they are found there, then the path to Windows\system isn't searched.

GPL lockups

Yes copying the old glide drivers to the root of the GPL directory will
allow you to play with the new Direct x 6 drivers installed .. as far as I
know all products check the current directory first for drivers so it should
work for all games .. I've been running GPL for a while now after copying
the old glide drivers into the GPL directory ..,I just lifted everything
that wasnt a direct x driver into GPL so am not sure exactly what files you
need there as I copied all 5.The files I lifted across to GPL are listed
below.

Glide2x.dll
Glide2x.ovl
glide3x.dll
fxmemmap.vxd
fxoem2x.dll

I'm sure these arent all needed but I couldnt be bothered to experiment ;-)
