rec.autos.simulators

I just d'loaded GPL1.1 (US Version) but the exe file won't install itself!
It sais that the current GPl version is not recognized. What can be wrong. I
do believe it's the US version I've got (bought it via the internet at
interactcd). I've looked at the box and the two manuals but can't find any
indication what distribution it is.

Can it be that it's die to some upgrades/utilities/track add-ons that it
won't install? I did add some of them.Will the upgrade only work on a
'clean'  (full) install?

Help needed!

In case you haven't got the patch installed  yet.
I  had the same problem, the install stopped at 56%.
So I copied the original GPL.EXE file from the CD onto the
hard drive and then used the patch. All worked well.

The problem is solved: It appeared that it indeed was the US version (No CD
needed during play. I always wondered what everybody was complaining about
over here about needing two copies when racing in a LAN, now I understand: The
other languages need the CD to be inserted).

Oh by the way: I only had a few minutes time to test 1.1. but up until now no
strange things showed up, all works well (even the new track (BH) and cars are
still present).

For what it's worth: I've got an PII-350-128MB and a Diamond Monster VII-12MB
using the latest official 3dFX glide version (2.56).
