While we're all waiting for the GPL 1.1 patch...

by Marc Collin » Thu, 13 May 1999 04:00:00

....do you think we could get a NR 1999 patch?  It is starting to worry me
that Papy is taking longer to patch NR 1999, a two-bit upgrade to N2, than
UbiSoft did to patch MGPRS2, a two-bit upgrade to F1RS.  Of course, Ubi had
to patch the same bugs that were in the earlier versions of F1RS, but we
shouldn't even be discussing these two companies in the same
sentences....right?

Marc.

I am so glad the level of discourse on r.a.s. isn't deteriorating into
adolescent blathering.

I presume you think that patches for GPL and NR1999 are not long overdue?
Is it possible to reply about the content of a post?

Marc.

I don't care about a patch for NR99 (I'm more interested in N3), but
"long overdue" is a good description for the GPL patch.  On the 16th of
this month, it will have been over SEVEN months since the sim was
originally released (according to when it was first showed up on store
shelves in my area).  At this rate, I suspect that we'll all be driving
the hell outa N3 before we see a patch for GPL.

IMHO, Papy has a great reputation in terms of quality of their sims, but
when it comes to timely release of patches for said sims, they're at (or
near) the bottom of the heap.

Impatience grows for the patch in many, personally, I have faith in Papyrus,
we all KNOW the patch is complete, and has been 'tested' but if they found
something WRONG with it, I would rather have a working 1.1 than a 1.1 which
needs 1.1 version b :)

If they need to get it right, then I want it right, hence it's right :)

I think it needs to be said that a patch is not even really needed
for GPL! It seems it will be more like an upgrade than a "patch".
