T2 and NASCAR; how do you accelerate?

by Clark Arch » Mon, 08 Apr 1996 05:00:00

I just bought NASCAR and installed it last night, but I am having some
problems with my T2 while playing it.  I have installed the adapter
that places the pedals on the Y-Axis of Joystick 1 and this works
great for NFS and ICR2.  For some reason, NASCAR will not recognize
the accelerator pedal of my T2.  Anyone know why?  I don't want to
have to install/remove the adapter everytime I play NASCAR.  If this
is the case, I will return it.

Thanx,
Clark

Nascar is one of those rare games that works with or without the
adapter, so I don't know what you're doing wrong. I'd try
recalibrating and the Set Controls menus again.

Try reading the docs that come with the T2.

Gee, thanks.  Just on the off chance that you weren't being a smart
ass, I dug out the documentation and read it again.  Nothing beyond
telling you to use the calibration procedure in the game.  For now,
I'm using the brake pedal to accelerate and the 'B' button to brake.

T2 and NASCAR; how do you accelerate?

Hi.

I had the same problem and found out that for some reason I had to use
two joystick inputs. go to the configure joystick option and configure
joystick 1 using only the wheel. Then configure joystick 2 using only
the pedals (be sure you push them both down seperatley).

Now go to the screen that lets you choose what controls what. The
steering should use joy 1 and the pedals should use joy 2.

good luck and have fun

I've had the same problem.  It could be to do with the joystick port
on the PC.  I took my T2 over to a chums house and it worked fine on
his system.  Not sure if he had applied the 1.21 patch, I haven't as
yet.

Clark,

I had a similar problem with the T2, but it was my brake pedal
that wouldn't work.  My solution was simple, I had to get the newest
version of NASCAR (v1.21), in which Papyrus fixed the problem.  Check
to see what version you have; since you said you "just bought" it,
it's probably the most recent version -- which means this is OF NO
HELP TO YOU AT ALL!  Sorry...
Make sure you configure the steering wheel as Joystick 1 and the
pedals as Joystick 2, then set them appropriately in the "Set
Controls" menu.  Can you properly set the controls in the options
menu?  When it says "Please press the accelerate button" (or
whatever), and you push down on the pedal, does it register at all?
If so, I don't know what the problem is -- if not, it sounds like my
problem.  Check the version to make sure, maybe you got some old dusty
game the store had hidden away somewhere.  Good luck!

Check to see which version of Nascar you have. If you have version
1.0, you should get an update from Papyrus. This might help.
