Hi again.............

Well, I got 0 responses to my question posted Friday night concerning
graphic cards, so I went out and talked to a couple people who I felt
would give me the scoop and not a line of BS. I ended up purchasing
the STB Voodoo 2 Blackmagic. Works great.

Anyway, I loaded up that GPL demo again, and I'll be dipped in
shit............Now I know what all the commotion is all about. What a
sim!!!!!!!! Un-freaking-believable!!!!!!

Now, the big question..............Is the frame rate in the real
version close to what it is in the demo? I've heard some conflicting
reports and would really like to know from some people who have a
setup close to what I have.............Let me refresh your
memory.............

K6 233, 64 EDORAM, the new Voodoo2, um, I think thats it.

Please let me know...........I sure hope NASCAR 3 looks like this.

Later,

No hard drive?  No keyboard?  You must be kidding...

GPL is also very floppy-drive-intensive, so you'd better get a fast
one...

Ok sorry I won't play with my dad's computer anymore...

I'm not certain what brand hard drive is in my machine.

I guess I don't understand your last line, please explain what you
were trying to infer with that last commont.

Didn't see your friday post. For 300 or less cpu's the thriller 8meg is
better but if you plan on upgrading later then the voodooII is better on
faster 350+ cpu's. Papy sims are optimized for the rendition chip. I just
upped from a 200mmx to a celeron300a and it is sooo much better at 374mhz
or 450 ! all graphics and cars at 30fps.

My comments were humorous and shouldn't have been posted on this NG if
I had followed proper netiquette.  I knew it would bother some, so I
wrote the last line to inform those people that I knew my humorous
remarks where somewhat (ok maybe completely, a matter of taste)
juvenile.

It wasn't intended to insult you or anything to that effect.  Your
question was valid and I hope you get helpful answers, wich I can't
provide.

You know, sometimes I read this NG when I get back home at 3:00-4:00
AM, while still a little intoxicated with ***ic beverages...

I won't do it again, I promise!

The frame rate of the full product on slower computers (sorry I have
to say that, but your machine is one of the slower ones - and so is
mine :) is limited mainly by the number of AI cars. You should be able
to get a decent[1] frame rate with about 10 competitors. A full field
will be too much for your CPU, unless you can live with fps around
15-20. In training mode, the retail version will be every bit as fast
as the demo, if not faster.

[1]read: approx 10 fps in pit lane, 12fps at the back of the field
during the start, 25 and up during the race with only two or three AI
cars around.

I have been racing against 9 opponents tonight on my P225/VoodooII. Good fps with most
details turned off. The racing line detail is a must for braking points, then just add to
suit after that. Then join me dreaming of when I'll be financial enough to get that celery
300A, etc :))))
