N2 Laps Corrupt

by Andre Min » Thu, 13 Nov 1997 04:00:00

Hi Guys...

After doing a full install of the BGN pack onto my full installed N2, I
now have funky "Laps". That is, a full 100% race at Michigan is 200
laps. I used to race at 40% race length = 80 laps.  However, now, the
menu page at Michigan reads 40% = 40 laps.  ??  This same malady is at
all the tracks, I simply can't get full 100% values anymore.  I checked
the "Track Txt" files in the N2 directory for a few of the tracks, and
those display the proper number of 100% values.  What gives?  More
importantly, how can I fix it?  I tried opening the "Calender" file
under my N2 directory, but WIN95 said I needed to "Associate" the file,
well, I backed off right there for fear of screwing up further. FYI I
run in DOS, and previous to the BGN install, had zero problems.  Any
ideas?  I sure would like to be able to have it "right" again, know
whata' mean Vern?

Thanks

My guess is that what is going on is that you have selected the Gran
National season schedule, which if you look in the gn1997.cal file (the
current calendar file for that series) has Michigan at 100 laps.

if you wanna run more laps, switch to the 1996 Nascar Cup season schedule
and select Michigan for 100%

windows 95 thinks .cal are print artist files. i go to start ;; run ;; type
edit e:\sierra\nascar2\bgn.cal     (on my system this works)

BGN gets the race distance from the calander.txt file for the
appropriate season.  If you will look at Michigan in the calander file,
it will have a 200 somewhere in it.  Start to look here and see if that
helps.
