Hi Everyone,
Guess it's time to stop lurking and introduce myself to the people
on r.a.s. here. I received N2 as a gift for Christmas, and have
quickly become ***ed. I really can't believe how far auto sims have
come in the past few years. My early experiences with the first "race
sims" almost soured me completely. Luckily I was exposed to ICR2 and
N2 at work recently, and that changed. I've been playing with a
joystick, but I'm seriously considering a wheel/pedal setup.
On to my question. I've been working on my driving skills by slowly
increasing the difficulty. I've started at Talladega, and worked my
way up to 100% opponent skill, full damage, and a 30% race length. The
last length that I played was at 20%, which meant that I didn't have
to pit. At 30%, you have to pit with about 10 laps left. Well, I
missed my pit and had to go around again and ran out of gas. The
yellow flag came out because I ran out of gas, I presume. When I went
into the pit, the spotter told me that I pitted early. Well, I left
the pit with the yellow still on, the spotter told me to stay behind
the 90 car, which moved me from 3rd place to 30th place. We went
around the track a couple of times, and went green. As soon as the
leader crossed the s/f line, it went yellow again. We did the couple
of yellow laps, went green, and the same thing happened. I never got
black flagged for pitting early, either. This continued until the end
of the race. I had a lap each time to move up, and ended up in 18th
place, but I think I could have done better without this apparent bug.
Am I missing something, or has someone run across this before? I saved
the race replay, if anyone (at Papyrus/Sierra?) is interested in
seeing the last few laps.
