This major difference in lap speeds is caused by N1 and N2 using different
track legnths to make the speed calculations. Nascar 2 is utilizing the
correct track legnths for all tracks. Nascar 1used legnths which were
longer than the actual tracks thereby inflating the lap speeds.
Using you example of Richmond, Nascar 2 correctly uses a legnth of .750
miles while Nascar 1 uses .7913 miles. In Nascar 1, my fastest lap was
22.425 seconds which was calculated at 127.028 mph. In Nascar 2 I have a
faster time of 22.398 seconds which correctly calculates to only 120.546
mph.
The correct track legnths now allow us to have a better comparison of our
speeds against the actual track records. I have my game options set to
time rather than speed as this is the way that the real NASCAR drivers and
teams always refer to their laps.
