If N2 didnt implicate a "realistic' mode then you might as well not even
consider it a
SIM and put it along the shelves with NFS, Screamer, etc. etc. Thank
God!<g>

I believe the file is called Records.txt, that resides in the directory
for each track.  Regardless of your in-game preferences, the records are
stored in time, not speed.

A friend of mine played Nascar2 on my machine in arcade mode and blew
away all of my lap records (198mph at Michigan!!).  Does anyone know how
to zero specific records for specific tracks (preferable not all of
them) so that it will resume keeping record of my fastest laps?

Thanks in advance,
Matt Lewis

Each track has a sub-directory under the TRACK directory.  Each track
has its own RECORDS.TXT file.  Just open them up and delete the numbers
after:
RACET
RACEP

That should do it.  Yeah, I was real impressed with my record time at
the Glen under arcade mode.  I don't really believe I made that good of
time.  I think they "arcade" the timing to ;-)

No, the timing is correct. It's just that the tires in arcade mode are
more or less twice as sticky (along with some other changes to the
internals, but the lap timer is still real time...)

You know, I guess because it was so easy to do (just point & floor it),
I didn't receive the same sensation of speed that I do when I make a
really fast run in realistic mode and can just barely keep the car
under control.  Thank god there is a realistic mode!

Just delete all but the first two lines of the records.txt file in the
tracks subdirectory.

is that why i have faster times at darlington the which ever real
nascar has it in the game...i'm turning high 26's and low 27's!  i
could only turn high 29's and low 30's in non-arcade mode!  heck you
can actually drive in the lower half of the track (but not
realistically).

The "lower half of the track" is actually the apron. If you're racing, you
are supposed to stay above that white line.
