I have a Geforce 3 running 16bit colour (64meg ddr)
512 Meg ram
XP 1500+
I have tried 29.42 (immediate lockup)
29.40 (immediate lockup)
28.32 (blue screen dump)
23.11 and 23.12 run but give stutter (2 or 3 times a lap)
22.50 (old favorites of mine) same as above

Usually turning down the texture detail and/or lowering the res will help.

Nope...runs perfectly here on a 512K cable connection. Seriously though,
why didn't you read a review of the game before you went and bought it
instead of coming on here and ***ing about the crappy net code...? I
guess you'll know next time. I suggest that if you don't have access to a
fast network, you should just enjoy the game for what it is - an awesome
hotlapping game. Go register at EAs web site...
You shoyuld also have read the back of the box (how many of you actaually do
that?)
It clearly says Multiplayer 56Kbps 2 players!
Multiplayer ISDN,Broadband,Lan, 2-8 players!
Check Ya Specs before ya buy.
Besides a lot of you wingers will just have to wake up and accept that your
old 56k modem just won't cut the mustard anymore.

There is no reason a good 56K hardware modem can't play MP games as well, or
close to, as DSL. When they say two player 56k they are also talking about
cable/DSL users.
I've had DSL and it doesn't do MP any better than my 56k does, so long as
you are not hosting and find a server with low pings.
FU. Latency can actually be worse on DSL. Only a small amount of data has to
be transferred for a MP game, not the whole friggin game's graphics.
I have, but I prefer Ghost Recon, Delta Force: LW and online masive MP
flight sims. My game has never suffered because I am on a 56k modem, that
applies to N2002 also. There is another thread in this group where it is
pointed out that even a 28.8k modem is sufficient for online ***. The
only problem with a slower connection is the long downloads to get new maps
for games like Q3A.
As I said before, FU, it is you who doesn't know WTF he is talking about.
For most games 56k is fine so long as you have a good ping. It is your ISP's
backbone that is more important than the speed of your connection. I've been
doing MP since 1993 - mostly ON A MODEM!!!
The best ping that I've ever seen on a modem was about 150ms - totally
appalling compared to 40ms or so for cable in FPS games like CS. 150ms is
probably OK though for racing games.
Anything below 300ms is adequate! And that ping can really fluctuate so just
because it says 40ms when you connect doesn't mean it will stay there. When
I had DSL quite often I would get lag due to fluctuations, more so than on
my 56k modem.
More friendly than a cable system. Then more users on a cable system the
worse the performance will get, that doesn't happen with a modem.
Anyone who thinks 56k modem isn't adequate for MP *** is an idiot. They
were doing this stuff long before your mommy and daddy let you roam free on
the internet.
