Sounds like the GPL demo is really great, but I have a problem -- when
the game loads, I get to the title screen and the mouse locks up.
Then it goes directly to the options and then the calibration screen,
but though the numbers change when I move the wheel or the pedals, the
mouse remains locked and I have to reboot to escape.

Suggestions anyone?

Move the mouse real real slow and it will move. Move it so that you can switch to the Direct joystick driver instead of the Optimized driver.

Thanks

I had the same problem. Try moving the mouse very very slowly!!! If you
do you can eventually get to the ok button in the calibration window.
Now move the mouse very very slowly to the direct joystick driver box
and clcik on that. Your mouse will be back to normal. If you move your
mouse to quickly when trying to do the above it will lock up.

Thanks
John

I saw that on The Apex last night...  When they say move it slow, they
ain't kidding, either -- it took me 20 minutes to move the cursor from
the corner of the screen to the "ok" and then about 5 more to get it
to the direct driver...  But at least it finally started working.

Now I just need to get the frame rate better than 5 fps, but that's a
subject for another thread...  :)

Try this dunno if it will help but anything wrth a try

GPL Demo Trouble Shooting
If you are trying to calibrate your joystick and you find you mouse
arrow not moving at all or
moving very slowly you will need to turn off the optimized joystick
driver and switch to the direct
joystick driver. To do so moving the mouse very very slowly and it will
move. When you finally
select ok to exit the calibration routine move the mouse very slowly to
the right and click on the box
for the direct joystick driver and not the optimized one. Once you do so
the mouse should return to
normal use.

All the best  Glenn

I'm obviously missing something. Do we mean to move it slowly or move it
a lot and it moves slow?

I guess it may not matter as neither works for me. Is there another work
around to getting the joystick settings correct? Otherwise, I am damned
to the controls setup screen forever!

Perhaps an actual "fix" to the problem rather than a Band-Aid (TM) is in
order. In any case, I appreciate your help.

It turns out that my problem was unique and the "move the mouse slowly"
solution does not apply. The mouse on my system uses a
little utility called "Net-Pointe," which allows one to make use of a
center mouse button for scrolling web pages, etc. (that I never use).
Because of this, it had a unique Win95 mouse driver that GPL did not
like and locked it up.

Thanks to all that tried to help. Put this in your list of "helpful
hints" for future unfortunates like me.

By the way, as far as the demo goes...this is sim racing ***. The
demo is silky smooth on my P2-262.5+Diamond Stealth II. While I was
e***d about getting a Voodoo II, I must say that the Stealth II may
live a long life on my system if GPL is any indication.

To get the demo to run I had to remove my mouse driver from system in
control panel and use Win95 mouse driver.  Just remove it and reboot.

Mibe does the same thing. Mouse freeze and the calibration screen.

Emails to Papyrus and Sierra go unanswered.
