SB Live, XP, GPL (Again)

I had this same problem with a SB Audigy.  Picked up a Turtle Beach Santa
Cruz for $65.00 last year, and everything has been fine.

Do you have the latest Creative drivers from their web site?  Windows XP
contains only "minimal" drivers which were furnished by the manufacturers
last summer, probably two months prior to XP's release.  And don't turn the
hardware acceleration all the way off, just down a couple notches.

SB Live, XP, GPL (Again)

I tried turning the accelaration down a notch at a time & firing up GPL
after each change, but only with it clear off did the static go away.  As to
the drivers, I updated the Creative drivers via windows update mainly
because on the creative website they listed different drivers for SB Live
Value cards depending on the number after the card (something like 4260 vs
4280) and, for the life of me, I can not figure out which number card I
have.  I even pulled the card from the computer to see if it was on there
somewhere, but if it is I didn't see it.  But I really think I'll just get a
Turtle Beach card & sell the other one on Ebay or use it for a non-GPL
machine + XP machine.

Cheers.
Mark
