Problem in centering MSFF wheel

by Arto Wik » Sun, 19 Sep 1999 04:00:00

My MSFF wheel was ok, but now, after it was unconnected to the
electricity for a while, it is not well centered anymore.
Also the test screen show this. And "advice" in the help just
says something like "calibrating is authomatic"...

Do I have to reinstall? And if I do, are my profiles then gone?

I had this problem and for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.  The
wheel centered ok, but for some reason the handmounts at the usual  9oclock
and 3 oclock positions were out of whack.  The Wheel was kind of listing to
the left.  I returned my wheel thinking something was wrong, and then the
second wheel did the same thing.  I figured out what was up, the wheel has
to be centered when the power comes on.  If it is not, it just assumes that
it is centered correctly.  If you disconnect the power at the back of the
wheel, and then center the wheel and reconnect the power your problem will
be solved.

If you do have to install it, save your current profiles to another
directory. Uninstall won't remove them from another location, so
you'll be safe to copy them all back once you have re-installed the
software.

I'm not sure it has to be centered when you turn it on, i think it can be
all the way to the left or right too, but i'm not really sure.

I solve the problem thusly; disconnect power. Pull wheel full _left_.
Connect power.
Wheel will stop at center.
