MSFF wheel and GPL problem

MSFF wheel and GPL problem

Sometimes when I brush a wall or crash the wheel gets knocked out of
allignment, it goes off center. Is anyone else experiencing this and what is
the solution...other than pulling the power on the wheel, this will reset it
most of the time.
I have all new drivers for wheel and dx7, (it was doing it before too)

The solution would be a Shift-R (when available) to reset the damage
to your front suspension.

The same problem occured for me too some time ago. I couldn't find a solution,
apart from avoid hitting walls that is :)

No, it happens with no-damage too. Actually if I exited GPL the wheel was
still off-center.

Happened to me too.
Never bothered me again however after checking  'poll with interrupts'
Always thought this thing had to be unchecked though.
But apparently not for the msff.

I think it's the early signs of the end of the wheel. This has happened to
me a few times, but it happened to a mate's wheel and *nothing* would sort
it out. He had to swap it for a new one. It just always centred itself about
30 to the left of centre.

I never had that problem, but that might be because I never hit walls...

;-)

Perhaps they didn't turn off the FF damage when you set GPL to use "no damage"
model?

Running without damage isn't such a  great idea in the first place.

I've had this problem in a few online races, what I think is happening is
this :-
The internet connection is poor which is causing frame stuttering because
the CPU is fully loaded, this is leaving no spare processing power so when
something abnormal happens there are no spare cycles left so the optical pot
in the wheel is not read so any turning thats done is not registered thus
leaving the wheel off centre.
This has only happened to me in an online race where I've been experiences
framerate probs and does not even need contact with anything to happen.
If you unplug the power supply to the wheel and then put it back in the
wheel re-centers so its not a case of GPL seeing damage, this however
usually puts the return to centre back on for me so slows me down a bit :)

Even in novice mode - a severe impact causes damage - experienced as a pull
to one side - shift r will correct this.

Mine does it.. I stop, push the "FF" button.. cycle the wheel full both
ways, push the "FF" button again, and go on...
