GPL and MSFF Wheel

by Scot » Tue, 23 Apr 2002 23:30:28

I just got GPL and installed all the patches.  I've been using Viper Racing
with the MSFF Wheel and like the feel of the wheel in that game.  In GPL I
cannot seem to get the core.ini parameters adjusted to give me reasonable
feel.  One problem seems to be large oscillations which could happen just
after a gradual turn.  I thought the damping parameters should somehow
minimize these, but I haven't got it adjusted yet.

I would like a stiff wheel and still be able to feel the curbs and grass,
etc.  But I would like these wild oscillations to be damped out.  Any
suggestions from current MSFF users on their settings?

I got these settings from a MS FF user on VROC

allow_force_feedback = 1                 ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping =1.000000  ; force feedback damping coefficient
force_feedback_latency =0.010000       ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 260.000000     ; steering torque in N*in giving max
device force

Seem to be ok on mine,
