I'm a casual player of racing games and bought F1 2002. I am using a
USB MSFF wheel and I can't seem to get the car to shift past gear 1.
The left padal will down shift to N and Reverse but I can't seem to
upshift past gear 1 and 59 mph (with right padal and have reassign
other butttons to upshift but still doesn't work). I have the MSFF
software installed and the game recognizes it as a USB FF Wheel.  I
also uninstalled the MSFF s/w and seem to get even less (before the
gas and brake would work).  I'm sure I'm overlooking something. I'd
also like an automatic clutch.  Help pls.  TIA.  Richie

Did you press L to turn off the "pit speed limiter"?
If you se all the gearshift indicators flashing, you have this speed limiter
on. AFAIK it's always on when you start.
