My Microsoft FF wheel works okay, as far as I can tell, but EVERY TIME I
turn it on, it goes through its "motions" (full left and right lock) and
ends up about an eighth of a turn off-centre.  Simple fix is, straighten it
up, turn it off at the wall switch, and then turn it back on again.

But the wall switch is way under the computer desk and I really need an arm
the length of an orang-utan to do this comfortably.  My ageing back is
protesting.  Any solutions to this problem?  By the way, FF is switched
"off" (anyhow, FF "on" makes no difference).

Thanks

Well you can turn off the wheel by disconnecting it from the back,
where you connect the pedals to. Just unplug the adapter from there,
and any need to go to wall switch will be eliminated.  You can leave
the adapter plugged into the socket constantly. I've had it plugged
into the socket for about a year, no probs.

Richard,
Nope -- left of centre.  But thanks for your suggestion, I'll try it (in
reverse).

Steve

I just unplug the power from behind the wheel then plug it back in. That
allways seems to do the trick for me when it doesn't center properly.

Okay, let's see if this is your situation. You power up or start using the wheel
and it's turned just a bit left, correct? Well, I happen to also use and love a
Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad. I plug my wheel right into the pass-thru connector
port on the gamepad which is quite convenient. In fact, for the money, it's
almsot worth it just to get a gamepad to use as a psuedo extension cord.

Now, when my wheel does this (turn too far to the left on start) I just unplug
it from the gamepad and plug it back in. It then automatically centers
perfectly. I suspect that if you unplugged it from the back of your system and
reconnected it, you'd get the same results. It's just very easy for me to do
this since my gamepad sits on my desk to my left. I don't have to reach very
far.
