OK -

Im putting this together:

P3 1Gig CPU / ASUS CUL2-C Intel 815 E, 133MHz FSB Motherboard
768 Mb of SDRAM  PC133 ram
19" Acer Flatscreen - .21 dot pitch

and would like to compliment it with a  vid and sound card for games
especially for N4, GPL and the  various F1 software.....

So far I was told to try the Power Color Evil Kyro 64MB this any good ?
Are the ASUS vid cards any good ?? how do they compare to the Kyro  ?

Any other cards that you peeps might suggest ? Is there maybe a site that
compares the various vid cards fairly ???

Also Ive used the SB Live Value in the past and was happy with it  - is the
SB Live MP3 + any better ???

I'd suggest a GeForce2 GTS/Pro or even a GeForce2 Ultra. I think these cards
will prove to have better driver support than the Kyro.

I have a few suggestions for you.

#1.  Don't bother putting 768 Mb of ram on this motherboard, the 815e
chipset only handles 512 meg.

#2.  If you haven't bought the ram yet and need more than 256M, get VERY
high quality ram or get a single 512 meg stick.  The CUSL2-C has problems
with too many "sides" of ram, apparently.  I have two fairly ordinary 256
meg DIMMs, either of which works and tests perfectly on this Mobo, but when
installed together, create consistent memory errors in the address range of
the 2nd DIMM.

#3 I have an original SBLive! Value and a SBLive! MP3+.  The Value has a
separate header for digital out to the speakers and the MP3 has it built
right into the bracket, but requiring an adapter.  The MP3+ also crackled
mightily when hooked to the digital speakers and a usenet crawl uncovered a
LOT more people with the same problem.  Not an issue if you aren;t using
digital speakers, though.

Spend some quality time HERE:

It may change your mind about what you want to put together.

How much do you want to spend? I recommend the SB Live card - awesome!

As for the video, I bought a VisionTek 64MB GeForce2 Ultra.  It really
pushed the frames per second up.  Now, I'm on a Pentium 4 1.4, but I
had my Viper 770 in it for a day before getting the GF2 in it.  The P4
made it faster, the that video card really kicked it into high gear. I
can run all the cars, all drawn ahead, at a track like Bristol with NO
PROBLEMS.  I keep world detail to the minimum, car detail and mirror
detail to default.  However, the card is $360-$390 depending on where
you get it...  You can get the GeForce2 MX for under $100 I believe,
and the performance is still pretty good.  Personally, I went for the
more $$ card because it'll be awhile before the wife will let me spend
more $$ on the PC!

I had the SBL Value and now my new system has the SBL MP3+. I have not
noticed any difference, except that the MP3+ version has a few more software
utilities that I dont really need.
Don't know about those video card, but my next card will probably be GF3
because of the new features and speed.

I have found the Hercules Game Theater XP to be not only a worth competitor
to the Soundblaster Live!, but surpassing it in price and compatibility.

The breakout box is much more useful with the Hercules as well.
