F1 2002 the rules and the failures Help!

I can't complete a race without failure on my car.
I don't want to play the the "without failure" mode.
In the game we have four choice of failure,( in the rules menu)  and the
book don't said what is the difference.
We have:
1) without
2) normal
3) barme de temps ( I have the french version and I don't know how this
sentence is in english...)
and :
4) 2002 season

I have choosen the third mode and I can't complete a race without a failure
( engine, brakes, ect...)

What is the difference between the normal failure mode and the 2002 failure
mode? I want to play a realistic race with some random failure but not on
each race!
