What are everybody's idea about an irl sim using the new G-force
chassis?  I think they looked cool and when I went to the Indy 200 at
the Mickyard they raced really well.  I think it would be cool to take
one and do a few laps at indy 8)

Thanks

What the hell are you talking about, who would buy this crap, IRL  is one
of the worst racing leagues i`ve ever saw.
it`s a failure.

OK....here we go with this one....I feel th eIRL is THE best
open-wheel series.  CART is just like Formula 1 in my opinion;  a bunch
of rich guys with nowhere else to spend money.
The IRL, on the other hand, is full of oval-track talent.  Tony
Stewart, whom I met at Richmond at a USAC Silver Crown and Midget race,
is one of the best drivers I have ever seen in an open-wheel car.
Granted, his equipment may be lacking sometimes, but watch this kid in
the future: he'll be the next Jeff Gordon.

Well not many thought the Craftsman truck series would work and hey
look at it. Great racing.

A couple of points from me, not that you asked but that's not the point.

1.This discussion has been done over and over, and this really isn't the
place to do it. But I will anyway.
2.CART is not Formula 1, Formula 1 has far better drivers and equipment,
ask Michael Andretti if you don't believe me, or on the flip side, ask
Nigel Mansell.
3.I like the entire concept of the IRL, and if everyone could just get
past the Indy thing they'd probably like it too. If they can't get past
the Indy thing, I can't really blame them. It's the one thing I still
don't agree with. If they leave the indy 500 alone I don't think any of
the court and other power struggles would have happened.
4.Tony Stewart is a great talent, but as of yet unproven in NASCAR. But
even all that aside I just think it's terribly unfair to try to compare
him with anybody in any way.

I pass the stage to anyone else now, sorry for taking up your time.

Well We might have to settle on something like that if this rumor about
SONY goes through and
buys the licence for CART. The IRL actually does have some decent racers
and I've
seen these guys race hard and crazy!(I guess because its a new league
and they
see the opportunity to get coverage instead of all the Marlboro cars
hogging the scene)
But if I like anything about IRL, it would be that those cars are DAMN
fast and I wouldnt
mind givin one of those buicks a spin!! The only thing I dont(i mean
REALLY DONT) like about the IRL
is that idiot Tony George! If his grandmother where still around she'd
slap the shit outa him!!
Give a spoiled brat THE most  famous track in the world and what does he
do, but ruin one of
the most upheld and respected events in our American history only
because of his greed for power!

I actaully drove on  Disney's track and what a cool little tri-oval!! I
live in Orlando and I
was taking a buddy of mine to work at Planet Hollywood and we had some
time to spare, so I
said, Hey lets go drive on the new MickYard!! Well he thought I was just
teasin! We drove down to the
ticket booth where you buy your parking ticket and my buddy says Im not
payin to park in the Magic
Kingdom just to see the outside of the track! I said dont worry about
it, I got it covered! As we
approched the ticket gate, I told the very nice young man that we where
there to meet some sponsors
at the track and, wala!, he gave us directions to the track and let us
through! Well my friend was e***d
that we had a chance to see the outside of the track and truthfully I
thought thats all we would see.
(this is about 3 months before the debut race) Well, anyway I drove
around and you couldnt see anything
of the track because the banks were so high. We got around to the back
stretch and I saw an opening in
the wall where some guys were painting the retaining wall. I told my
friend, Hey lets take a spin, he said
"yeah, right!" I pulled up to one of the toothless painters and said,
"could you please move those
orange cones, we're here to see management about promotion work". This
ole' guy says "yeah, just
drive on around and you can park on pit row and go into that portable
trailer" in the infield.
I said thank you and proceeded to drive through turn no.1 Now I didnt
have a 300z or Supra by far, but I was in my wife's GSX Storm(I know)
but it had a little pickup it still seemed I was crawling even though I
got her up to about 90mph! Well to make a long story short(if I already
havent(g)) We bullshitted these guys in the trailer for a few minutes
until they pretty much said, get the hell outa here in a nice way and
pulled the car outa pit row and proceeded to finish our famous lap at
the Mick Yard.

I'm on my way now to party for 24 hours at the lemans race at Daytona
Speedway and will post some
PICS when I get them developed on rec.auto.binaries.sims or whatever
that newsgroup is called.

You must not have seen many .....

So what?  Gordon is a stiff who couldn't possibly win in CART.  He'd be
the american Raul Boesel ......

You are both laughable idiots.  CART is by far the best, most
challenging open wheel series in the world.  The drivers, teams and
competition are unmatched.  F-1 is an engineering series, period.  The
driver is an after thought.  The IRL is below both Indy Lights and
Toyota Atlantic's in both teams and driver quality.  And the racing in
those series is far better.

How about asking Jacques Villenuve?  And would that be the Nigel Mansell
who went 0-16 in his second CART season and promptly took his ball and
went to F-1, where he proceeded to win the Aussie GP with ease?

Man, I highly recommend a quick and painless sterilization procedure for
both of you, you're to dumb to reproduce ........

What you MIGHT fail to realize here is that the IRL is an oval-only
series.  I don't particularly care for road racing at all (CART or F1).
I grew up around short track racing, and that's where my opinionated
remarks lie.  The IRL is allowing drivers that come from an oval
background to have a shot at the Indy 500.  If the CART guys want to run
at Indy, let them spend the money to build new cars and allow them to
run with the IRL at Indy.

Yeah, well, you're "too" dumb to spell "too" correctly....

This only confirms that you are one of the inbred Indiana morons who
think people should care about "short track" racing.  Next time you and
2,000 of your chromosomally challenged pals are watching a bunch of farm
boys slog around in the mud, say to yourself "this is all the IRL fans
in world".  And just think, you can all get togther in 1998 and cry when
the IRL collapses from lack of sponsorship and fan interest.

Actually, I did spell "to" correctly.  It is a question of usage.  This
explains why you can't tell the difference between the IRL and actual
racing.

Remember, CART has more cars for a test session than the IRL can muster
for a "race" (if you can call 18 cars running in single file a "race").

Jeff Gordon Rocks.  At his age he's not quite mature but next year his
experience will put him first in the WC.

Jacqques Villeneuve is the best driver in F1.  And he would be the best
driver in CART.  And in IRL.  And in Nascar.  So he's the pilot in the
world.  Better that KING Hiro.   :)

How about an IRL sim?

I think an IRL Sim would do well.  I also think that's very sad.
CART proved something, in my eyes: anybody racer can get good at oval
racing.  Just look at Jaques Villeneuve and Nigel Mansel these guys had
little to no oval experience and went on to win on ovals consistantly.  On
the other hand when was the last time you saw an "Oval Tallent" do well in
road racing.  Take a look at America's beloved NASCAR.  Every year they
race at Watkin's Glen and It's not a bad race.  At the end of the race,
though, where are Robby Gordon, Bill Elliot, or any other championship
contendor's for that matter.(sorry I'm not up to date on who the best
drivers are so DON'T e-mail me pointing out some glaring omision because I
don't care)
The IRL was created because foreign drivers were coming into CART and
dominating.  Who could blame them, here was a series with lots of
sponsership, television coverage and international recognition and it was 3
times more competitive than F1.  Not to mention cheaper and easier to get a
ride in.  Since Americans weren't ruling the roost any more several big
money owners pulled out and started their own league, were they could win
again.  Sounds alot like when you were a kid and the guy who always lost
ran crying that he would start his own game and you wouldn't be aloud to
play, doesn't it.
IROC is another perfect example of this.  They take a few select
European drivers (never famous ones mind you) and stick them in what are
essentially homolagized stock cars next to NASCAR and Winston Cup cars.
Then the American drivers win... OOWW SURPRISE!!!  IMHO IROC is nothing
more than an American circle jerk.(Hey why not invite Nigel and Jaques this
year and see what happens???)
So will an IRL sim do well?  Saddly yes.  But on the bright side
maybe Americans can petition their local governments to start building road
systems that allow them to get from one place to another with out making
right turns.  Then these oval tallents they develope on their computers can
be put to really good use.

-Marshall Mclean

P.S.  I haven't seen the NASCARs run at "The Glen" in quite some time.
It's no longer a priority to tellevise and the broadcast is never announced
in advance here.  I miss it.
