reguard to reality...
I can understand that as I feel much the same way (at least until you watch
Alex Zanardi's banzai charge at Laguna Seca). That doesn't change the fact
that the IRL is a second best series at best. Take a trip over to the
Indianapolis Star's web page and check out their comments concerning the
IRL. In particular their article on driver safety.
So I've heard. And what did the Indy 500 have last year? A bunch of no
name talent running in old cars. I'm not going to use Brayton's death as a
symbol of the IRL beacause that could have happened in a CART car or a F1
car. Not to be surprised, veteran Indy/CART drivers tended to finish toward
the front while the rest of the pack went backward.
Don't even mention 'parity' and IRL in the same sentence, though. Menard's
lapping of the field at Disney put that notion to rest quite quickly. Now
CART has Penske and the IRL has Mendard. Unfortunately for Penske, he has
competition, Menard only has to overcome bad luck.
Drop the 25/8 and it would most likely be a done deal. Precious few of
those short track greats would get in to the big show though.
