IRL qualifying looked like a sim

I watched the IRL qualifying on ESPN (via DirecTV satellite) this
weekend for a while, and was struck by how much the in-car camera views
almost looked more like a good racing sim than like reality. The camera
position on the cars made the view look almost exactly like a typical
in-car***pit sim view. There was only one car on the track at a time,
and with the stands basically completely empty and a clear, smooth
track, it looked more like doing practice laps in ICR2 or something
than like a real race car. Wierd!

If I had the opportunity to race an IRL car, OR driver a few laps with GPL on a
decent computer, I'd know which option I'd choose....

id love to drive a real irl....
Rob, is the fford series you race in a british league?
Ive considered entering a fford championship within the next 2 years, going
to jim russells racing school for an intensive course, and then getting a
team around me (as long as the funds are available).  Ive already spoken to
a few companies that set up teams with driver money.  How did you go about
it?
And do you race GPL?

My question is how do i get a midget career going in the US.  Im a descent
driver in these cars but have minimal seat time (mostly a friend who lets me
mess around in his sometimes).  Anyone who knows anything about possibly
helping me (mainly Midgets but ledgends, dwarfs, or even karts would be a big
step from where i am now.

Of course, it depend howmuch. How much does Greg Ray get?

Double that, and I'll think about it :))

What's wrong with the IRL ????

The level of racing and close competitiveness is better than CART, F1, or
perhaps even NASCAR, as "rubb'in is racing" as we all know is a bunch of BS!

Granted it's not the most eliete series around, but you'd be hard pressed to
find a more competitive, equal and exciting open wheel series going today!

IMO

I prefer to watch F3000 races. And at least some of those drivers are going
places.

I'd do it for FREE.  Hey, I *love* racing, and if I had the chance to actually
DO it...?  Who's mother do I have to walk all over?<g>

You might call it close because the level of the drivers and equipment is not
up to the standards of the other major series (CART, WC, F1).  Not to mention
cautions every 3-4 laps keeps the fields bunched up...
