Does anyone here have an 8meg Thriller 3d running OK in Win98. I've
spent 2 days trying everything to isolate problems.If I run the Win98
Standard VGA driver (16 color)
it works fine but with the Hercules driver running in 256 or 16 million
colors I can't refresh my device mgr. without a lockup , locks up when
shutting down ( freezes on a darkened desktop) won't go into MS-DOS
mode. I've tried everything including removing all cards except Thriller
, changing IRQ's ect.
...But before I condemn Win98 I want to make sure it's not just my
machine.

I do, there's a new setup of drivers just released for the Thriller at
ftp://ftp.hercules.com/pub/thriller/th3dw085.exe These fix a lot of
problems in the .77 and .81 versions. Be sure to upgrade the BIOS version
too.

Oh yeah, these drivers still don't fix the ability for NASCAR2.EXE to
run. NASREND or NROSREND will run just fine, but not the standard
versions. In testing this I believe its more of a bios issue than a
driver issue as it happens even in plain dos (no windows at all). Oh
well, its reported.

I have a Thriller 8 meg, but have refrained from the Win '98 upgrade so far.
I have read a lot of messages in the Thriller news group that sound very
familiar to your problem. The solution was to use drivers from another V2200
card, I believe it's the Genova (?) card.

Today (literally) the solution may be easier, as Hercules JUST released the
version 85 drivers on their web site that are "supposed" to work for Win '95
& '98.
