Are you lifting as you shift?

I've tried three races at Monza after finally figuring out how to keep
the car on the track.  My newest problem has to do with the Gourney Eagle
- I somehow blow the motor before the race is over (Novice race).  Is
this typical of this car?

I'm starting to be able to pass cars, and my fast lap time there is
1:37.79 (so far), but I can't keep the motor in one piece.

It is also not lifting the accellerator when changing gears !

Damage?  I want to drive beyond the first turn - damage is off. :-)

Of course not... :-)

However, I will start to do so.

I switched over to the Lotus and my best time at Monza so far is 1:35...

You must lift off changing gears - after driving the demo for all this time
this takes some getting used to!

Also too much red-lining will eventually blow the motor - so alter the
ratios, and don't change down too soon.

I ran my first novice races at Monza. First impression: Hey, where are
those guys going?? I was left standing at the start. By the time I got
to the first bend, the other 5 cars were out of sight. After a few
more starts, I found I had to jump the starts to have any chance of
keeping up for a lap. I was disqualified. Then I guess I blew a header
about 3 times. By getting a run at the start I could keep up for a lap
or two. My fastest training lap was 1:30.16, and I was doing 1:32's in
the races, but always finishing dead last, and most of the time all
alone, with the others lost in the distance. Amazingly, their times
showed as in the 1:34's! My starts are godawful, and results the same.
I love it, but it's frustrating.
