However, it does have Virtual 5.1 in games that works well. There aren't
many games that support 5.1.
Of course, in AC3 mode (Dolby or DTS) it supports true 5.1 digital.
I have a 5.1 speaker set (Klipsch ProMedia 5.1) so I use it like this all
the time. It sounds great.

Does any card output an AC3 stream, so i can connect it straight to my AV
amp? I know most do when playing a dvd/ac3 files, but what about games?
My 5.1 amp only has analogue fot 2 channels.

I have no idea what EAX really is. I think it just makes noise out of all
speakers :)
