GPL+ME+P4+GF3= Black Screen, i get a black screen after i try to leave any
track. i got open patch and cpu patch, and still get this problem, any help
out there?

What's "open patch"? Do you mean OpenGL? Install the 1.2 patch and
then the D3D patch.

same problem here, came runs great until I leave track then its all black,
I can hit escape a few times and back out of the game.

This is a known GeForce2/3 problem with OpenGL, use the D3D patch
instead.

Get the latest motherboard drivers, helped me run open gl

Don't forget the CPU patch. I have P4 1.7 ME and GF3 and I only get a slight
grey shading in GPL when returning to the pit screen. Everything else is OK.
