GPL + Voodoo3 = black screen

by eddier.. » Tue, 22 Feb 2000 04:00:00

Can someone please tell me what Voodoo3 driver and
DirectX version you are successfully using with
GPL?  I'm using the version 1.02.18 driver and
DX6.1 because they seem to perform well (or at
least better then the 1.03 or 1.03.xx versions)
with Need For Speed III and Re-Volt.  The big pain
is that you can't just try out the latest drivers
without installing DX7 and I've seen lots of
reports about "blue screens" and severe problems
that were solved by a reinstall of Win98 and
DX6.1.

Thanks,

        Ed

Running GPL fine with a Voodoo3 3000 agp and DX7a.
I have the latest drivers for the V3, and have the latest patched version of
GPL
Runs great.

GPL + Voodoo3 = black screen

I and many others have been using DX7a for some time
with NO problems.  However, other users have had difficulties
with DX7.  It's probably a matter of how stress your system is in
it's current config.
I have a Voodoo3 3000 and have the latest drivers 1.04 + with NO known
problems.  GPL, SCGT, N3, N99 Age Of Kings, etc etc all work fine(even
the Quake demo)
Can't tell ya how the 1.04's work with NFS or Revolt, since I haven't
tried those games.  Good luck
