Well, I don't think I've had a more satisfying feeling in racing sims
that lowering my time a few secs in GPL.  I managed to drop from 1:45s
to low 1:42s in a BRM advanced trainer at Monza.  Yahoo!  I think I'm
finally beginning to understand what ramp angles/clutches and diff
angles mean.  Nah, probably not.  :>

Now if only someone could tell me if 1:42 is sorely lacking or if it's
time to move up to a BRM GP1 car.

Hoping Papy comes out with the following in a patch:

1.  Variable weather.  I don't mean animated rain drops or anything,
but why is Monza always sunny for example?  Didn't weather extremes
(overcast/cold-sunny/warm) affect these old cars?

2.  Overhead replay cam.  Been in every Papy sim I know of.  Why is it
missing now?

3.  Able to load/save/delete replays from within the replay screen.
Annoying to have to go back to the main menu to load/delete replays.

4.  A comment section in race setups ala N2.

BTW, what are most people using as an input driver - the DirectInput
or Generic driver?  I'm using the DirectInput driver with the
Linearity slider set about 3/4s of the way to the right using a TSW
wheel.  Wonder if changing the driver makes much of a diff.

% 3)It would be nice if at 0:00 on the practice clock, it would just click over

% you're off the track when actually you're not.  At least make this an option in
% multiplayer.

In reality this does happen.  It is not instantly, but eventually the
clock will automatically head to race time, even with cars on the track.
I think the delay is to give everyone a chance to check their race
setups just one more time for joining the grid.  Be patient and it
happens.  This happened last night on an unattended host, and a beta
tester also backed this up.

I like this idea... People with cable-modems could host during the day,
while we're at work, to give everyone a good server to join.

What I would like is, after saving a complete race, run a utility
(standalone or part of GPL) that plays a 2+ hour racing "show", complete
with commentary; intelligent use of camera angles, switching camera angles
once in a while and occasionally putting focus on the lead driver;
"instant replays", showcasing some cool manuevers once in a while for a
few seconds and then returns back to the race; and commercials.  :)

Commercials include adverti***ts of old games, e.g. Indy 500 !!, recent
games, e.g. GPL -- advertise a game which you already have ;), and
upcoming, and "vaporware" games, e.g. Nascar 3, "Grand Prix Legends 7",
"Indy Car Racing 13", "Drag Strip Racing 2", and everyone's favorite, "Pit
Stop Challenge 2: Under 12 Seconds."  :)

I don't miss that one as much as other people seem to do.

I second that one. BTW, the cam is already there. You can select it as
the driver's perspective (pretty useless for driving, though:) when
you tweak one of the ini-files. The only reason for leaving it out I
can think of is that it allows looking behind the scenery at times.

Yes, why not.

If you compare "generic" and "DI" calibration, you'll see that generic
shows a much wider range of steps between full right and full left.
With a quality wheel such as your TSW, this should translate into more
precise steering.

If I'm not mistaken, the reason for the delay is because F1 rules were that any cars
still on the track when the practice session time ended were allowed to complete the
lap they were on.

I agree but it would seem the amount of time to wait is limited to the
lap time for the last grid position since, after that the person on
the track could not improve their position.  I mention this because it
si something the server could do without knowledge of any car's best
time, or start of lap time.

Not sure if it is curently this way but maybe in a patch???  Start a
count down based of the slowest current qualifying position.

A friend of mine has already said the he would think of putting one in at his ISP
if it could host itself like quake because they already have a few quake servers.
