  • Has the Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel switched to gear drive? 2001-09-06 · 23 posts
Ken MacKay asked whether the Guillemot/Thrustmaster Ferrari force-feedback wheel had been redesigned with gears instead of a belt. Posters sorted out the confusing line-up, including a new GT version shown at ECTS and a cheaper NASCAR Pro model, and noted that newer units had dropped the serial connection. Opinions differed on whether current units were gear-driven, and several lamented that FF wheels seemed to be getting worse with each revision.
  • Guillemot Ferrari force feedback wheel problems 2000-01-21 · 35 posts
Marc Collins described weak force feedback and oscillation on his Guillemot Ferrari wheel in GPL. PDPI's Shumi criticised current wheels and talked up PDPI's forthcoming wheel, which drew a rebuke for knocking competitors. Mats Lofkvist found that setting the driver's spring gain to 0% greatly increased GPL's force feedback, an apparent driver bug that cured Collins's problems.
  • Setting up the Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel for GPL 1999-12-09 · 20 posts
Phil Lee asked for GPL settings for the new Guillemot Ferrari force-feedback wheel and, when pressed, posted a short review. Greg Cisko wrongly assumed it was a rebadged Thrustmaster with a large frame-rate cost. Owners compared frame rates and OpenGL settings, and reported free play and paddle problems that seemed specific to an early version of the wheel. Lee recommended the Logitech DXTweak utility to reduce the deadzone.
  • Thrustmaster Ferrari FF wheel driver problems 2001-11-24 · 21 posts
A user struggled to get his Thrustmaster/Guillemot Ferrari force feedback wheel drivers working after upgrading to Windows XP. Suggestions included a clean XP install, Thrustmaster's CleanW utility, installing Thrustmapper with the wheel switched off, and registry cleaning, but the wheel editor still would not detect the wheel. He ended up recommending against Thrustmaster.
  • Guillemot Ferrari wheel zig-zags on straights 1999-12-16 · 21 posts
Tim Hayne reported that his new Guillemot Ferrari force-feedback wheel made cars wander on straights. Shumi, who works with PDPI, attributed the problem to coarse positioning resolution in the wheel's USB firmware and said PDPI was developing a much more precise USB wheel. Other owners compared deadzones and found that DirectX 7a and the serial port made no difference.
  • F1 2000 crashing to desktop on impact 2000-03-24 · 33 posts
Iain Mackenzie reported that the retail F1 2000 dropped to the desktop whenever he hit anything. Others traced the problem to force feedback, and it disappeared once FF was disabled on his Guillemot Ferrari wheel. rrevved quizzed Iain over his dual-boot setup, and Mrv's dismissive posts drew plonks. Others discussed the Guillemot wheel's analogue hand paddles and the lack of saved race results.
