I posted the above here in r.a.s. back in mid February. Well, as the bl**dy thing packed up on me earlier I thought I'd update you. As it says above, you cannot make swift direction changes without running up against the internals. I have found it a problem on a few occasions in GPL but with a 12:1 steering ratio I've generally been able to avoid it. However, when I have run up against it I have noticed a clicking sound, like the nylons cogs where slipping. I'd only had this a few times and generally it didn't seem to effect the steering. Anyway, my eldest son came around the other day and I showed him Super 1 Karting Simulation. This is a pretty good Kart sim but in karting you need to make very swift direction changes. I am a bit more subtle than my son, who uses a Non-FF wheel. Anyway he ran up against these cogs a few times so I kicked him off it. It was now more prevalent and anything more than slowish movement would cause this sound. In Pre-Qual for today race it was happening all thew time for the first half lap then all FF disappeared completely, not even a centering spring. Now all I get is the motor whirring and no FF. So, basically it's bust, in less than 3 months use. While it lasted it was a good wheel, but my suspicions about it's use with games requiring fast steering movement has been proven. It could be that mine was a bad example. Anyone else out there with a Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel have similar observations? Maxx
You're absolutely right. I bought one and a couple of hours of Colin McRae sent it back to the store to change it for a Microsoft FF. Regards Maxx <[email hidden]> escreveu na mensagem news:[email hidden]...

Had one for a year now, and no problems whatsoever. The best wheel I've owned or tried out. Much better than the MS effort. Iain "Maxx" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Ditto on what Iain has stated!! I just don't understand all the problems that folks have with the 'TM aka Guillemot Ferrari FFB Race Wheel?' Odd??......Cheers Thom_j. "Iain Mackenzie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:2%ZI6.505$[email hidden]...

Don't think so - I haven't had any problems either. Constantly banging the wheel lock to lock is gonna bust it eventually, sure. Just like doing it in your real car will eventually bust it. The solution: don't! :) -Phasor - "Thom j." <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:YS2J6.50284$[email hidden]... > Ditto on what Iain has stated!! It's not banging the wheel from to lock, it's more to do with speed of movement, even moving it 1/4 lock but very quickly I had this resistance. And lately this has what has produced this clicking sound. I have since investigate the problem (shh) and it appears a belt has broken inside the wheel. Also, however it appears that the belt has been badly frayed down one side and the the rubber from this is trapped in the sides of the rollers. Bottom line is that I think there has always been a fault with the wheel. As many have said, they have had their wheel much longer with no problems, and have never felt this resistance which has been an issue with my wheel form day one. I'm gonna get it replaced under warranty and we'll see what the replacement is like. Maxx

Yes there is a problem when steering very very very fast. But I never had a problem with it while racing. I never ever steer that fast in a sim. I never need to. The wheel is great. The pedals suck but I connected some old thrustmaster pedals to my gameport and it's great. I can now use the analogue flaps on the wheel for using the clutch. Awesome. The force feedback effects are very good and the steering range is great. Not too far like with the act labs but better than the original logitech.

Phasor I just sent one back that was beat to death!!...lol My Bad! And they still sent a brand new one since it was under warranty!!! So the only problem I have with the "TM Ferrari Wheel" is Me! I cant stop running it for 500 to a 1000laps a week.. I do get a tad over zealous when I race.. "O" well still the TM Ferrari ffb wheel is just fantastic for me!! Cheers Thom_j. I have tried mine briefly in Mobil 1 Rally Championship, where it is VERY sensitive. But I haven't tried playing with the deadzone/sensitivity settings yet. Also tried it briefly in NFS4; what a difference from a Gravis Gamepad! :) I've used it extensively in NFS:PU and F1CS2000 and love it. I've had it for about 3 months and am hooked. I haven't noticed the described problem at all, and I'm trying to be gentle with the paddle shifters. :) My next adventures after F1CS2000 are MBTR, GPL, GP3, NFS4, and M1RC; I've got some "work" to do. :) - Tom N.

Yes Maxx, my Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel does the same. It happens during ultra fast attempts at changing the wheel direction over about a 45+ degree of change. I get a sudden resistance that isn't there during normal smooth or shorter steering changes. I've been wondering whether it is to do with the gain settings in the controllers app. In my case, because I haven't got FF enabled, I've reduced all those settings down to zero and the 'Default Spring' down to 8% so far, but still feel it. Will try reducing DS down to 0% to see if it goes away. -- Peter Ives Remove ALL_STRESS before replying If you know what's good for you, don't listen to me GPLRank Joystick -50.63 Wheel +15.11
Dag Thomas with all those new titles below you sure will be bizzy! haha Enjoy! Btw: I just love my TM Ferrari FFB too & it kicks Arse in GPL but make sure to go GTX-SLOT's site aka Gary to get the core.ini sets for the Ferrari wheel! Here is the Url.. http://www.slottweak.com/gamesettings.htm Also go into the rest of his site as he has an enitre "Fix'it" for Ferrari & many other wheels!! This guys is good & he doesnt pay me for saying this either!! <g> Cheers Thom_j. I, am again here to say I've not had a single problem with mine yet, BUT a lot of people have. I would heartily advise people to stay clear of the Ferrari FF, simply because so many people have problems with it. "Sjoerd de Roest" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qpaJ6.85237$[email hidden]...

It actually surprises me how good some people are with the crappy pedals...by the way, if you want a game that virtually requires a manual clutch (and you use it a lot!), get F1RC...great fun -Phasor
