What drivers are people using successfully with SBK2001 and GeForce
cards?
I just helped a friend setup his new Dell 1gig system with a 64mb DDR
Ultra, WinMe, 6.49 Det.3 drivers (the eVGA ones from rivastation).
Loaded SBK2001 and the occasional stuttering is maddening!  I finally
get to see why I like my V5 so much ;)!
I even backed down the settings quite a bit (to what works smooth as
butter on my V5, with 2xFSAA to boot!), and it didn't help at all.

A couple things concern me about the Dell - the AGP aperture can only
be set to 32mb or 64mb, and this in a 256mb system (I set it to 64mb,
although I'd be interested to see what would happen with all AGP
texturing off).  Vsync and mip-map settings don't seem to make a
difference.  I did install nVtweak, so he's got access to all the
advanced settings.  I also did the standard disabling of all the
extraneous WinME crap.
As soon as I saw it, I said "welcome to nVidia GeForce hell" ;)...
His 3dmark is incredible, of course, but its interesting to see it
fluctuate from 30-200+ fps in a single benchmark.
And Giants *does* look incredible - with the occasional st-t-t-utters...

3dfx you shall be missed...

Maybe you should say 'wecome to Dell hell' since there's nothing wrong with
the GF2 in general.  I certainly don't get any stuttering from SBK 2001 or
from any game except Colin McRae 2, and everyone seems to get stuttering
with that, on all sorts of video cards.

It could be WinME, it could be the motherboard (which doesn't exactly sound
advanced), it could be the games, but I doubt it's the video card.  Try the
GF2 in a different system maybe?  It might at least answer the question as
to why it is happenning.

I would say that you have some Dell graphics drivers still lurking around.
Did it come with the Ultra as standard ?
If so, go back to the Dell drivers and see what happens.
Report back asap ;-)

Fair enough - it's why I'd never pay for a system I didn't build myself.
What drivers/AGP aperture do you use for your GF?
I did remove the original drivers, but I might re-install them and see
how they do.  I *think* they might have been 5.x versions, but I'm not
sure.

Thanks,
