No green flag

No green flag

I was racing at Cleveland on ICR2 today (25%) race when something I
have never had happen before did.  I am wondering if this has happened
to anyone else, and if so, is there a remedy for it.

I started 3rd on the grid, and the field took the green flag to start
the race.  Alright, I will admit I probably caused the accident which
took out five cars (places 2&4, 10, 11 &12), by trying to get a jump at
the start.  I know I touched someone, or they touched me, as I went
into a part spin, recovered and continued with minor damage.  However,
there were no cars behind me as usual at the start, and by the time I
reached turn 1 the yellow flag was out and the pace car was in front of
the field.  My attempt to cheat had cost me two places.  This is where
it gets strange.

One I was suprised that the pace car was in front of the field already
by turn 1.  Second, the car in front of me which started 5th had its
rear wing*** at about a 45 degree angle, and the right rear tire
in the air.  Obviously involved in the opening mayhem.  For 21 laps the
yellow flag remained out, and the mangled car in front of me remained
on the track the whole time. I tried a couple of times to exit, save
and resume the race to no avail.  At first I thought about bagging the
race, but then in the interest of science, decided to stay with it the
full 21 laps to see if it would ever go green.

Again, has something similar happened to anyone else?  Other than the
yellow flag situation everything else was fine.  I run a pentium 133
with 16 megs of RAM,no previous problems running ICR2 or NASCAR, so I
am confident it was not a hardware problem.  No lectures please on my
start, you won't see me at Hawaii anytime soon.

Thanks,
Jerry
