HAWAII...Green Flag.... NO GO!!

by Terr » Fri, 07 Jun 1996 04:00:00

Hi Race Fans,
Has this bug affected anyone else? When the green flag drops my car does
not move even though I'm putting my foot through the floor. This is an
infrequent but major problem that has occurred three times in about 40+
races. It is catastrophic for the poor guys behind me, as I usually
qualify in the top five. I've had it happen twice while on the pole.

This is the scenario....10 sec. to start 5..2..green flag waves...I cause
tremendous mayhem by not being able to move. Cars are driving through me
and crashing into me and each other. 15-20 seconds later, I see the green
flag fly again and I can now proceed!

My latency is never above .15, sometimes as low as .11. Calling from
California, I can't expect much better. It is not a calibration problem
as this is not evident anywhere else but the start of a race. come to
think of it, I've never seen it happen with a pace lap, only on the drag
race starts.

I'm supposed to race 100% at Michigan Saturday. I would not like to be
responsible for ruining the day for many drivers.
Could anyone relate similar problems so I won't feel like I'm the only
one parking in the fast lane. :-)

Regards,
Terry

Don't feel bad, it's happened to me a few times also. You qualify first, and then sit there as 5 or 6 people go around
you at the start. Fortunately, I haven't been hit while waiting for my chance to run.

I suggest sticking to races that use a pace lap.

Yes, this is an acknowledged bug. It's doesn't seem to be a problem if the
race has a pace lap, which I prefer anyway. Too many crashes when people
try to drag each other from a standing start.

Thanks for the reply. Your confirmation of this bug removes the burden of
guilt off my shoulders!<g>

I too would prefer pace laps, but when online I try to get as many races
in a possible. Matters not which track or conditions......just race!

If you sit during the countdown with your foot/finger on the throttle
instead of waiting to see green, I have noticed that this is when the
"no-go" occurs, I may be wrong. I have now started to wait until the
green flag is waving and then I " mash on the gas" I have not had this
happen to me since .
