GPL or Viper?

Get Viper, I doubt you will be happy with the frame rate of GPL on your
"200". Paul

GPL or Viper?

I think you'd be much happier with Viper Racing. Not only will it run
better, but GPL is a different animal than the titles you listed. I'd
foretell a lot of frustration on your part....

GPL or Viper?

You can run GPL satisfactorily on a Pentium Pro because of the same speed
cache. My second machine is a Pentium Pro with a Voodoo1 (and my other car
is a Lotus :-) ) and it works ok for LAN races. It won't give you the best
frame rates but if you turn off some of the "nice to have" graphics
features you should be pushing 30fps which is adequate.
Viper runs fine on a PP200.
As far as the choice between Viper and GPL goes, I would get both, but,
having got both, expect to be playing a lot more GPL once you have got the
hang of those beasts - IMO, GPL is the most rewarding sim on the market
place today,

GPL or Viper?

Get Viper.
On your p200, you wouldn't be happy with the framerates on GPL,
especially when trying to race the AI cars (which SEVERELY cut down on
the framerate).
Also, looking at the list of games you seem to like more, I wouldnt even
CONSIDER GPL... it's good for *** sim buffs, and people with a LOT
of patience, but if you just want to drive fast and have fun without too
much effort, it's not the game for you... IMO it was a major fubar on
Papyrus's part not to include any real difficulty settings, or a VERY
dumbed down arcade mode (look to F1RS on how THAT should be done)

Don't equate an ordinary Pentium 200MHz (or P200MHz Overdrive) with a
Pentium Pro 200MHz. The Pentium Pro has a cache that runs at the same speed
as the CPU which gives you stacks of extra performance over and above a
Pentium, which has a cache that runs at half the speed of the CPU. The
Pentium Pro's performance will approach a PII 266MHz for many operations
including ***. By getting the Pentium Pro Overdrive 333MHz you will get
performance nearing a PII 400MHz for many operations, although Intel are
charging way over the odds for it.
