GPL with Diamond Viper 550 Video card???

I have just installed GPL and to say the least I am most dissapointed with
the performance using the Diamond Viper, only 11 fps, has anyone else had
any better luck?

Or maybe there is a patch in existence,  please let there be a patch .....

I think there's a couple of hardware patches called Rendition and 3dfx

  Peter your card is very good for D3D stuff.  But...GPL runs 3d through
only two
types of video cards.  Rendition cards, and 3dfx cards.  Your Viper is
neither, it is based on
the Riva chipset by Nvidia.   I don't know if you will be able to get any
performance out of your
card, unless you add a 3dfx card(prefereably based on the Voodoo2 chipset.)
