Viper Racing sound in GPL?

by David Mocn » Sat, 14 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Just a question to see if anyone has managed to extract the engine sound from
the Viper Racing demo (the new demo). If so I'd love to get my hands on it and
I'd try and incurporate it in GPL for one of the bigger engines.

Anyone got the sound?

Regards,
David Mocnay

Finally, all of us who run GPL have a level track, equal ability, and
everything we want in the sim!  Papyrus* just posted these much-needed cheat
codes for GPL exclusively for subscribers to r.a.s.**  Just type in before you
launch a new race.

Hey, doodz.  Wanna race?

DOH! - Reduces artificial intelligence by 30 IQ points.
CPR - Reduces artificial intelligence by 50 IQ points.
VANNIKOV - Reduces Jim Clark's intelligence by 20 IQ points.  Only works at
Kyalami.
MRFREEZE - Instantly chills all opponents tires.
RAILS - Lets you race with the legends with no practice.
BLACKBAND - Fills all that wasted space with a cool graphic of your zipper and
an occasional alto-stratus.
PINTO - Makes rear-end of your car impregnable.
TAKETHAT - Enables nitro booster.
GPLMADNESS - Lets you take any grass or gravel shortcut at speed.
BURNBABY - Enables heat-seeking missile
OHYEAH? - Extends middle finger on driver's right arm.
CRMGDDN - Adds civilian oncoming traffic.
VALIUM - Instantly stops twitchy "drivers arm."
NOREASTER - Enables heavy rain, but only on opponents' cars.
GPLCULT - Disables cars of all "true believers."
STEALTH - Makes you temporarily invisible when you cause a mishap.
------------  -- Instantly annoys the entire grid.
STCKYGRSS - Makes handling, physics, graphics just like another well-known sim.
FLSHYTRSH - Makes handling, physics, graphics just like yet another well-known
sim.
VPRWARE - Makes handling, physics, graphics, you get the idea.
CANUSAYPENTIUM? - Lets GPL run on 386DX machines. (Sorry, not 386SX.)
THISRULZ - Enables force feedback, but only if you qualify in the top five.
FPS - Makes everyone have as shitty a time as you.

*Papyrus, quite obviously, were not involved in this project.  Hope you guys
have a little sense of humor.  And thanks again for GPL.

**Hey, can we all lighten up a bit?  This is supposed to be fun.  At least
that's what I'm having.

Maybe you could, ya know, kinda "accidentally" delete those Cooper setups.
Nudge-nudge, wink-wink.

I was on your site today because I think I've finally gotten comfortable enough
in the Eagle to go public on VROC.  Saw your write-up and set-ups and
downloaded them. Jeez.  I've been sweating all these weeks getting even the
Eagle under some predictable control!  With your Cooper setup, I ran 11 laps at
Watkins Glen, which I know best.  Laps six through eleven:
1:10.74
1:09.82
1:09.33
1:10.42
1:10.00
1:08.86

Not world-class, but consistent right off the shelf!  The Cooper just felt
comfy right from the start.  And not comfy as in "slow."

I'll probably go back to the Eagle eventually (Gurney and all that) but these
are sure fun to drive.  Expect a LOT of traffic on your site tonight!

Thanks

I know that alot of people NEED to have the "biggest -- baddest --
fastest" car on the track.  But, grab these setups, take a step back and
learn how a truly well setup car feels.  You will find that when you go
back to the Big Bad Beasts, that your times will actually improve (along
with your setups).  Don't pass up this opportunity to better your
driving skills.  That is exactly what will happen.  The experience you
achieve should give you better performance in your car of choice (that
is unless you are already one of the truly hotlap experts -- but then
again, who knows, you might pick up a few hundreths also <G>).

What does this mean. I have written codes almost every window of the
game and nothing happens. Could you tell me how can I use these codes?
Where should I write them? Thanks!!

Hi --

Perhaps you missed this at the bottom of the list of "cheat codes."  Sorry for
your confusion -- it was merely my attempt at humor, satire, parody, or
something.
