Is anyone else having any problems with the sound in Viper Racing? I'm
getting a lot of scratchy static when driving. And when I adjust the
volume in the game, from the sound options, the guys voice has a staticy
echo.

Throw it away. Get NR99. It is the only alternative. The Papy sheep have
spoken.

When you go to the options screen and select the sound tab. As you
adjust the volume someone says what sounds like Five.

I have the latest drivers for all my boards. Admittedly I have a low-end
sound card(ES1869 from ESS Tech), but it works ok for other stuff.

I am thinking of upgrading my sound card anyway. Could I have a few
suggestions?

Yes, I have the very same problem. The distortion seems to be coming from
the game because no matter how you adjust the volume the distortion is still
there. It is very annoying and detracts from what could be very good audio
that seems to be tied into the physics engine.

This is not a sound card driver issue as I have the latest drivers and no
problem with any other audio distortion.

My problem with the sound is that the Viper's engine sounds a lot like an
over-revving school bus. I had heard the exhaust note called "agrucultural"
in the car magazines..maybe that qualifies.
