Viper Racing Sound Problem

I am trying to run Sierra Viper Racing, but the sound is very distorted.
I have installed the Sierra patch but the problem persists. I have tried
every setting of sound in the game (quality, volume, 8/16 bit) but no
luck. I have reduced the volume of the sound card with no luck.

I am running an AMD XP1800 and Windows XP Professional with a Hercules
Fortissimo II sound card. The game runs just fine, just has awful sound.

Can anyone help?

There is a Beta patch that's not well known that not only fixes this sound
problem.

I'm not sure where it can be found.  It's kind of hard to locate.

The file name for the one I have is "viperpatch121beta"
