Nascar Legends...tire HELP!

by Dave Henri » Mon, 24 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Just ran a few laps at Alabama for the first time.  I need to thank
Dave K for helping me replace my lost cheerios copy of NL.
Anyhow, 2 laps in my right side tire temps are alread blinking into the
red ranges.  By lap 6 the wear bars already show yellow and by lap 12 my
crew chief is warning me to be careful and come in for tires.  YIKES!
Ace setup btw...
I can't believe they actually ran races at Bowman-Gray.  amazing!
Riverside is a truely unique road course, perhaps the finest in the
Papyrus grouping...excepting maybe the NEW improved Portland
International Raceway included with the truck pak.
rambling..sorry.  Has anyone figured out the tires at the
superspeedways?

That tire wear is about typical for Bama. If you REEEEAAlly stretch it I
think 20 laps might be possible, but 15 or so is normal.

Remember, the WC (Grand National at that time) guys did boycot the 69 Dega
race because of the tire problems they were having at that track. 70 couldnt
have been much better in which they pitted about 20 times during the 188 lap
race (18 laps per set of tires?)
