Please Papyrus/Sierra -- don't take the ravings of an anal-retentive
lunatic to represent the majority opinion in this newsgroup you have so
blessed and nurtured after taking our money. Really, most people here
ENJOY a product they purchase and then can't use for X number of
weeks/months until a patch comes out that they can't use for X number of
weeks or months, ad infinitum. I know this is only a niche market for
you, but please don't take your shiny toys away and cut your own throats
by not promoting your ever-improving ever-improving ever-improving
ever-improving ever-improving ever-improving ever-improving products
that we stand in line to buy like ***s on payday.
And if some company comes along and actually produces a sim that works
like it says on the box it will, you know my personal loyalty to
Sierra/Papyrus -- because of your responsiveness, caring, and concern
for your customers, of course -- will ensure that I would never, ever
covet another company's product, no matter how good it is.
Tommy, Trent, Lannie -- heap on me whatever punishment you feel would
somehow appease the gods at Sierra/Pap and bring peace and harmony once
again to your lives.
I humbly beseech you, in the name of Leisure Suit Larry,
Bart Brown

#1 people complain that the game is a sim and that it should be
completely realistic BEcause it is a sim.
I say its as GD close as it is going to get.. The fact is, when
things are made and sold in the world they ARE NOT REQUIRED to be
perfect...and anytime you buy something you take the risk that it WON'T
deliver what it promises.
The idea is that people make things as well as they can to
maintain business. And if any of them can come in here and prove that
Sierra/papy hasn't done just that I want them to bring it on....
SHOW ME THE BETTER SIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say it doesn't work, they say its full of problems. Well
guess what people, you CHOSE to buy it, you took the chance that it
wasn't all you wanted it to be. If you don't like what you got, take
Tom's advice. Go write your own Sim. Let's see what You can do.
The flaming that goes on here is rediculous, as is proven by the
responses to my earlier post about bart....I got hammered for senseless
blasting and name calling...IT DOESN'T HELP. I had hoped that post of
mine would be seen as the parody it was intended...but appearently it
went right over a few heads. Either way, the facts remain, this is a
SIMULATION, it is NOT real it CANNOT perfectly simulate reality but I
DARE you to find another program that does THIS good a job of bringing
racing to us the general public.
It's not perfect, I'll freely admit that, but for every single
complaint I see, I can give you a perfectly good reason why its not that
important. try me...you say that the braking is unfair when racing back
to the line, well guess what, you KNOW they will slow down faster, so why
teh H are you directly behind them when you get to the line? You say I
should run with the damage off, I'll clue you in, I do, i have run 7 full
races on 7 of the tracks, yes thats right 1 full race on 7 tracks, nod
yer head like good little boys and girls.... and you know what? hehe I've
managed to finish them all with 1 exception, and thats the watkins glen
race, i shifted wrong and blew MY OWN ENGINE... so...if I can do it, why
cant u? maybe Tom was right, if you practiced more, or hmm how did he
say..LEARN to drive with the system instead of over it. you might enjoy
what you have alot more.
No matter how much you complain, you won't be satisfied, no matter
how many times sierra/papy changes things or adjusts things for you or
even takes care of items that everyone wants to see changed, you will
want more and more....You paid approximately 50 bucks on the average for
the work papy put into the sim to this point..if they NEVER EVER put any
further work into it, you've gotten more than you money's worth. if you
don't believe that, just don't buy it or play it sell what you have and
go away.
I'm not saying that your opinions don't matter, but I am saying
that you aren't OWED anything, and the constant whining that they HAVE to
do this and they MUST change that, is just that its whining.
I apologize to bart for the flaming, it wasn't him personally I
was venting at, nor was it intended to injure him in any way...it was
supposed to make people laugh first...(i know someone did) and think
about this stuff second( I PRAY this one works better).
Now, Let's stop the bickering as steve says, and lets try working
with the sim we have...yes it could be better, so could most world
governments, are you ***ing at them this much to fix what is wrong?
I love racing, and a racing I will go.

: Just change the driver strength from 100% to 99%. I've found that works
: pretty
: good to simulate BGN racing.
That may work for the AI, but how does one handicap the Human driver?

"Papyrus is aware of the AI problems but it was beyond the scope of a
patch." He also would not reveal how, when,if they plan to fix it.
Beyond the scope of a patch I dont know about you but that sounds
pretty damn serious to me. Look the finality of the thing is that we
just want answers. We are customers you know just like you.
I think we deserve to be treated as such. What ever happened to the
word Support in Customer Support.
The way it appears to me and I'm sure (I maybe wrong) that alot of
other people do too (maybe even you) is that they aren't worried about
the AI because of NRO. I mean lets face it there will be no AI
problems with all human drivers (system wise that is).
So again I ask you (nicely this time ) Why do you have a problem with
Papyrus giving us the fix we ask for ? If it doesn't bother you then
fine race with it the way it is you dont have to apply the fix (if
there ever is one) but those of us that want it a little better
honestly deserve a reply at least.
If its not a sim then why are you posting against it in
(Rec.Autos.SIMULATORS)
says...

I really don't see how anyone can argue that the AI is fine, so I agree
with you there. Unfortunately has Charlie has said, it's beyond the scope
of a simple patch. The AI has continually evolved as part of the
progression of games: ICR, N1, ICR2, and now N2. It would seem as though
it's not a simple matter of just making a few changes, and would require an
extensive rewite of the game (i.e. N3, but not as an upgraded N2). I would
like to see this as much as everyone else, but it may be awhile. If I had
to guess I'd say we may first see the new AI in Grand Prix Legends, as that
should pretty much be a completely new sim from the ground up. Perhaps if
it works there, N3 can come as a derivitive of it.

*all extraneous BS cut out since we know what this was about already ;)*
In all the crossfire i think the point was mislaid, My origional problem
wasn't with you asking about a fix, or even posting again and again about
it, but it was the WAY the posts were made, the point i wanted to make
was that when you want to make a comment, try being civil, yeah maybe
they wont answer you, thats up to them, still there is no reasoning for
screaming and slamming them. as i've said its THEIR option to put any
further effort into. its not required. They don't HAVE to...you see?
Fortunately for us they are working on things and do listen to us
here. But all of us, myself included need to remember that there is no
real reasoning for screaming hollaring and insults in these posts, THATS
was teh point of my origional statements way back when...and thats what I
think everyone has forgotten. We all read these posts to learn about new
things and to post about problems we find or ideas we come up with.
Let's just be civil about it.
I thank you skarecrow for posting in a pleasent and calm manner to my
letter, it was a rephreshing change and was much more easily read and
understood... thank you.

TrenT, you old peacemaker you--
Not to belabor the obvious, but take a moment to go back and re-read
both *my* original posts and *yours*. Take your time. Read them aloud.
Ask a friend to read them, without revealing who authored which. Ask
your friend about the meaning of the word "civility". Ask your friend
which post was an uncivil, insulting, and unwarranted personal roasting.
Have a coke and a couple aspirin, take a nap. Meditate on the oneness of
all things and the world of cause and effect, and the famous Zen phrase
"form is emptiness, emptiness is form". Then write back.
Have a great day
