Seems like the pedals are playing up on my  Sidewinder ff wheel.(not
usb). It's either the connector or the cable near the connector as jiggling
makes the cursors in the game controller dialog box jump around eratically.
where can I get a replacement cable/ connector unit?

Are you using Windows XP? XP has known issues with non-USB wheels causing
eratic behavior. Most wheel makers and MS recommend a gameport-to-USB
adapter to remedy the problem.

Otherwise, it sounds like some wiring has bitten the dust within your
unit/connectors.

i don't that you can get any parts.  MS getting out of the 'wheel' business
from what i've heard.  i've used one for about 4 years without a problem, so
i decided to get two more.  i bought a new one on eBay for $15 minus the
power cord. everything else was there including all the cables and
connectors your talking about. just checked and
i see one with 3hours left, no bids, starting bid $19.  that may be your
best bet.  i also bought another new one from another place on eBay for $25
at the same time.  so got two, including shipping, for $60.  not bad
considering i paid $150 for my first one.  i don't know anything about
shipping to the UK, though.  that might be another problem.

<snip>

Shouldn't be a huge problem, as the MSFF is pretty common over here.
Last I looked, there were several on ebay.co.uk at 25 or so.

Dunno. Just know that XP doesn't like gameport wheels, especially ones with
higher grade pots. I had to get a USB adapter for my Thomas to take all the
'twitchiness' out of it during calibration and use. Works fine for non FF,
don't like nor use FF so I can't comment on that end of it.
