AMD K6 Issues

possible reasons:

1. you bought a remarked CPU, could be a K6 200 you have bought and someone
remarked it and sold it to you at a 233 price!

2. your fan is not good enough or not working properly

3. your motherboard/ram isnt good enough

4. your computer is not setted up properly. could have the wrong
settings in bios or wrong voltage on the motherboards.

Solution

1. make the cpu go at 225. this would be noticebly faster than 233 whilst
making the cpu work less harder

2. take it back to the vendor. if no help change the fan or switch to
225,...

I had a problem of the game dropping back to windows without warning,
and leaving no sign of itself having been running. It would normaly do
this in the first lap.

The reason for this was because I had installed the 233 K6 with the
voltages of the 200 k6 - they are different.

Check the chip voltages correspond with the voltages the board is set
up as. IIRC they should be 3.20 and 3.30 for core and i/o, but I'm not
sure which way round.

As everything seems ok for some time before the problem occurs, it
could be the cooling is insufficient - check the fan assembly hasn't
got any removeable plastic stuff still attached to its mating
surface - mine had some that had to be removed before attaching to the
chip/socket.
