N2 & AMD K6 Issues

Are there any know of any issues with the AMD K6 233 CPU,
Intel
430TX chipset or SD-RAM with NASCAR Racing II ?

The old system I used, a Intel Pentium 166 w/ 32MB EDO RAM DID

NOT experience any problems running NASCAR Racing II.

I upgraded to a AMD K6 with 64MB SDRAM on a new QDI Titanium
systemboard with Intel 430TX chipset Now the game either
locks-up
solid or reboots after running between 25 and 75 laps.

I Have re-installed the game, checked CPU clock frequency,
voltage
for CPU and memory. Run iside of Win95 and from a clean boot
to DOS.
No other problems with the system upgrade except this one with

          NASCAR Racing II.

If you have a 233MHz part I would bet that the cpu is overheating.   You need a
big heatsink and a good fan on the cpu to keep it cool as the K6-233 produces
the most heat of any socket 7 chip.  If you have all of this than the inside of
your case may be getting so hot that the cpu is overheating.  The biggest
heatsink and fan combo in the world wont cool the cpu with a case temp over 100
degrees.  I would suggest leaving the case cover off and then play Nascar 2 and
if the lockup and reboots stop then you no it's heat related.

You may need an extra fan for your case to help bring in cool air or exhaust
the hot air.  You will find that your chip and Intel PIIs need more case
cooling as they run much hotter than previous cpus.  The K6-233 uses 28 watts
and the PII 300 uses 48 watts peak and that is?dissipated as heat, ever touch a
25 watt lightbulb?

Good luck
