A friend bought a new CTX K6 233 computer. In it, it has the 32 Fat
Windows that will not accept older 16 bit programs. With Windows 98
coming out,  is the games like Nascar2  and such going to be obsolete.
I wanted to upgrade my computer, (I have a NEC 133 ), but I wonder if
I should hold on to my older Windows so I can still use Nascar2, etc.
After I called CTX, they told me to remove Nascar2 because it would
corrupt Windows and they would not stand behind it.They said I could
put the old Windows in but it wouldn't accept the newer  big hard
drives. Any suggestions on the future of the older games like Nascar2?

I run Nascar2 (in DOS Mode the way it was intended to be run) on a FAT32
machine with no problems.  What is the problem?

Windows 95 with FAT32 should execute 16 bit programs; just install them
normally.
What you can't do is read booting with pure MSDOS (say a floppy) a FAT32
partition.

I was curious that if your computer is 32 FAT only, can you go into
DOS at all?

Win95 is built on top of DOS 7.0 which has no problems reading FAT32
partitions.

I run fat 32 on all my drives. I can still run all dos programs just the
same. The only compatability issue is if I was to try and plug one of my
hdd's into an osr1 (or earlier) machine. These os's identify fat32 as a
"non-dos partition".

But then my hdd's usually stay in my case.
