Does anyone know if there will be a patch or wrapper for Grand Prix Legends
so the rest of us who have TNT cards can play the game?

Please, let it be...

They tried, but are still relying on a call that is very, very slow,
minimizing the usefulness of the opengl patch.  Of course they
blame it on drivers.  Sure, it could be fixed in drivers, but surely
it could also simply be programmed differently.

For now the TNT cards don't run GPL very well.

So...  Papyrus should rewrite their graphics code for a specific
video card, because a graphics call which should work well is poorly
optimized in the specific drivers?  (Drivers which are numbered
"0.48", if I'm not mistaken, which means something to me regarding
their state of development. :)

I thought just a little while ago the D3D/OpenGL folks were saying
"it's stupid to write your code for a specific video card"?  :)

I agree that fixing the drivers would be a better solution.

At least I wish we could turn mirrors off - to render them
_never_ instead of only every 2, 4, or 8 frames.  How
hard could that be?

Eh...  Let's get one thing straight here:
GPL's graphics enginge supports (by default) two _proprietary_ chipsets.
OpenGL is a universal/open 3D API.

This form of coding is primitive too say the least. Would you expect a game
to require a certain type of soundcard? 5 years ago maybe. Today,
absolutely not!

Papyrus already offers an OpenGL Patch (beta) at their site www.papy.com
