Logitech wingman formula force gp problems

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm having problems with my USB
Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP controller. I have a dual boot
system with Windows XP and 98se. The system specs are:
Gigabyte 7ixe4
Athlon 900
Hercules geforce II mx
Hercules fortissimo II
256MB ram
Logitech optical mouse

The problem occurs when I try to play Need for Speed III under
Windows 98. After a minute or two into the game, the controller
will completely lock up, and my usb mouse will quit working. I
can still use the keyboard and my serial mouse. I generally don't
use a serial mouse, but I put one on there to see if it would
still work after the game crash; it does.

I can run the same game under XP with the same hardware, and not
get any problems. I'm thinking that the problem is with my
motherboard, but I'm not sure.

Sounds to me like it's a software problem, but I'm not at all familiar
with your system. Sounds like a USB conflict, but I don't know why it
would wait for a while to lock up!?! Why not just run it under XP if it
works?
