Logitech Wingman Formula Force Problems with Win2000/XP

by Peter Coo » Sat, 29 Sep 2001 18:45:20

I have been trying to get my LWFF Wheel working under Win 2000 in GP3. The
wheel is detected and calibrates OK, but the Force Feedback is jerky and
basically unusable. Has anyone been able to get there LWFF working unber
either 2000 or XP.

It works fine under ME and 98 and I am using Profile v4.00.151.

Thanks

There is no working driver for FF under 2000 or XP. I hear tell that one
has been promised now though, but this is through the grapevine.

Here's a link to the relevant Logi page:

Now Kevin you know I am not the grapvine! lol I was told by the guys here:
http://www.wingmanteam.com/discus/ that the new drivers are almost ready for
release. If you are running Windows XP and have have tried to run the
logitech wheel with ff send them your experiences. It will help with the
release of the new drivers.

I had all kinds of problems with my LWFF wheel under Win2k
and in the end I gave up, put linux on the Win2k partition and
just play games under 98SE.

My symptoms were similar but also included problems reading
pedal position (swapping axes/reversing/garbage output) as well
as broken ffb in GPL and GP3.  I'm sure it's worked for someone
but you're not the only one with problems.

GPL would actually "reverse" the force effects?  weird.

Really? Then you'll have to explain all those little round things all over
you.

We're waiting.

??? The 3.65 driver supports Windows 2000 with force feedback, and has for at least
12 months. I have been using the LWFF and GPL with forces enabled for more than 18
months. The 3.65 and 4.00 drivers both work in XP. I switched to XP about a month
ago, forces work with no problems in GPL. Your mileage may vary with other games.
(are there any other games? lol).

There is a 4.10 driver coming in the next month with official support for XP. Not
sure what the changes are, the 4.00 driver is working great for me.

Keith.

You dont have any problems? What version of XP do you have. I have 2526. I
heard it worked fine wtih the earlier versions. My ff is a messed up. The
forces are wrong and sometimes the pedals switch to single access even
though they are on separate.

I have the XP final corporate version (version 2600?). The LWFF 3.65 and 4.00 drivers
do have one problem that is 100% predictable - at reboot time the pedals are in
combined axis mode, even if configured for separate. You have to go to the
configuration screen where the selection is, hit OK to continue, then the pedals are
separated. This should be fixed in 4.10. You can ask questions on the Message Board:
