N4 patch and multiplayer

After installing the patch succesfully and changing the shortcut pointing to
the newly created file Nascar~1.exe, I am not able to connect to sierra
multiplayer. Did they patch their servers or is there another problem? Am I
the only one with this problem?

N4 patch and multiplayer

After patching if you are getting an "out of date" error when logging
into
sierra.com multiplayer, you should check your N4 directory to see if
any of
the long file names have been renamed to 8.3 format.  For example
after the
patch "NASCAR Racing 4.EXE" might show up as "NASCAR~1.EXE" or
something
similar.  If this has happened to you, you'll need to manually rename
the
files before being able to connect:

"NASCAR~1.EXE" > "NASCAR Racing 4.EXE"

"RENDSE~1.DLL" > "RENDSERVER.DLL"

"SIERRA~1.DLL" > "SIERRAUPN4RES.DLL"

Thanks for your help Randy!!! Renaming the files worked :-))

I already noticed that the nascar executable name changed, and renamed it.
But I missed the file RENDSERVER.DLL.

Thanks again,

Pascal Dukers.

Rename that Nascar~1.exe file to Nascar Racing 4.exe and then fix your
shortcut

N4 patch and multiplayer

I also cannot get into multiplayer, but it isn't because my files are named
wrong.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled N4 and the patch several times.
File names are ok.  Multiplayer config is set right.  I have a cable modem
and the "look for IP address in a different way" is selected in config.
When I click on "play on Sierra.com" and enter my name and password, I get
the "looking for message of the day" notice, then "WS Timed out" error.

Any ideas?
