Maybe this has already been posted but F1 2001 is finally starting to
show up in stores in the US.  I found two copies at a Best Buy near
Detroit.  Of course now they only have one.  ;o)

It was on SB Telegraph around 12 mile road or so, just off 696.  I think
that is Southfield.  Hopefully other stores are starting to get copies
too.  BTW I probably put a good 6 hours of play time into the game over
the weekend.  It may not be perfect but it's really ***ive.  The
driving model just feels damn good.  I tried every track, which is
something I never even felt motivated to do with GP3 or F1CS2K.  This
one's definitely staying on my hard drive for a while.  ;o)

I really think EA blew it as far as marketing and distribution in the
US.  I had been checking Ann Arbor's various software stores regularly
since the official release on 10/5, and in almost every case, even at
stores that I had asked previously, people had no idea what I was
talking about.  Then they would go look in their computer and the answer
would inevitable be "Oh yeah, here it is.  We are supposed to have it
but I'm not showing that we ever received any.  Don't know what to tell
you, dude."  That's why when I finally found the two copies in
Southfield I posted about it, I was just so amazed that some store near
my area had actually received a couple of copies.

Want to know the really sad part?  Ann Arbor is where ISI is located.
In their headquarters city you cannot buy a copy of their game.  Sad.

While it may be true ISI is located in Ann Arbor,  The manufacturing
plants for the cd pressing and the warehouses from where the packages will
be shipped are NOT near Michigan.(at least I'm guessing they are not.)
Typical distrubution of software in the USA can vary by several weeks.
Some products are held to be released nationwide on a certain date, but most
are shipped out, and depending upon the priority of orders some parts of the
US will lag far behind others.
Since the 3 F1 titles by EA have very similar names and very similar
packages, I think there will be chances for ordering and maybe even pricing
confusion.    Rest assured, since EA has shelf deals with all the major
retail chains, there will be F1 2001 boxes in stores near you soon.

My point was just the irony that the people that developed the game
could not walk into a store in their home town and buy it.  Not that
they would need to, admittedly, but it still seems ironic.
