You buy the sim yet?

We need a place to race and build up our LPI. :)

Would it be possible to setup the server to be available more often
so that we have a place to setup impromptu races? Maybe two days per
week along with Saturday?

One last thing, I'm recommending the nVidia because it appears as if
more people have good luck with those across a wider range of system
configurations. Less problems means more racing.  :)

I would have to agree.

ATI has a nice card in the 9700 Pro, but it's still ATI and ATI, while
greatly improved over the last year, still doesn't have their driver game up
to par IMHO.

The FX is due any day.

FX production has been stopped.  nVidia is dumping it.

It's all over the net.  They made 100,000 cards and decided that the
complaints about noise and heat, and the "two-slot solution" was
enough reason to move on down the road.  I certainly wouldn't buy one
since the card isn't reasonably faster than the 9700 Pro.

FX, hehe..

Larry how can you have an opinion on something you don't own?  I mean really
dude, you had an issue with ATI drivers in the past yet you say they don't
have there driver game up...  And you know this how?  When you get a
9500/9700pro using cat3's and have problems then we want to hear your
opinion.

I do agree on the nvidia selection in this case though.

I got the impression that ATI's sooner than expected ramp-up to release of
the 9900 was the main factor.   They're apparently getting such good yields
that the production (& retail) costs will be lower than the 9700's, with
greater performance to boot.  Since the FX was not head-and-shoulders above
the 9700 (if at all), they didn't want to produce a lot of cards that would
not only end up getting dumped with little or no margin, but would erode the
NVidia brand image as well.  So they're plowing ahead with the next-gen card
instead.  Sometimes it's best to retreat and plan for the next battle... ;-)

Yes, and yes.  I'll be putting another GPL server online this week, so I can
keep the NASCAR server open...  How about monday and thursday?  Gotta download
and configure DeMONS first, though.

My new 9700 Pro is kicking butt, reformatted XP Pro yesterday and installed
the ATI card - very pleased.
I was holding out for the FX, but after reading some reviews I elected to go
with the Radeon card - my first one.
